There is a crucial step of the HCG cycle that people often forget: as you take the last dose of HCG before the maintenance phase, note the time and continue the VLCD for 72 hours. After the 72 hours, you may begin the maintenance phase. Weigh yourself on the morning of your last dose. That weight will be basis for your maintenance phase.
During the Maintenance phase, you must weigh yourself every day. Do your best to remain within 2 lbs over or under the weight at the time of your last dose. Anything over five pounds from that weight calls for a steak day. In the 3 weeks maintenance phase, make sure to increase your calories to at least 800-1400. Don’t try to continue the VLCD after the HCG is out of your system. Your weight will fluctuate during the first week or two, this is not something to worry about, this is normal. Do a steak day if you need to. The weight will eventually stabilize.
This is the period where you have to watch your starch and sugar intake. Make sure that you are eating enough. Use healthy fats and dairy products to up your calorie intake if necessary. Drink enough water as usual. Slowly introduce other foods to your diet one at a time and not all at once.
