Constant hunger while on the HCG diet isn’t typical, however, sometimes feeling hungry does happen for some people and there is something you can do about it. Here are the things you can do to help fight hunger:
Eat an apple- An apple relieves that hunger, anytime you get hungry an apple should be your first step. Be sure to deduct it from the allowed number of calories you are having in a day. Aside from apple you can also have the following when you go hungry:
c. pickle– (these are just cucumbers in vinegar, both of which are allowed on the HCG diet, but be sure to check the labels for added sugar or too much salt (extra salt may cause water retention)).
Spread meals throughout the day. Spread out your food throughout the day so your stomach doesn’t feel empty as often. The HCG diet is very flexible this way. If you are on the 500 calorie diet, spread it into 3 main meals and 2 snacks in between.
Eat extra salad- Lettuce, spinach, chard all are so low in calories, you can eat a lot of it without ever exceeding your 500 calorie limit. A cup of shredded lettuce has just 5 calories and lots of vitamins and fiber.
Drink plenty of water –This helps your stomach feel more full. If you don’t drink enough water, you might be dehydrated, which can often be mistaken for hunger. Be sure to drink plenty of water each day while on the HCG diet.
Drink tea- Tea is a good hunger suppressant; mint and peppermint are also natural appetite suppressants on their own. Yerba mate and oo-long are also good hunger killers. The HCG diet allows you to drink only water, tea and black coffee.
Determine the factor that triggers the hunger- Stop a moment and think if you are you really hungry or just thinking too much about food. Maybe your stomach is just feeling a bit empty. The best way to keep yourself from eating is to stop focusing on it and distract yourself with something else. Find something to occupy your mind. Do a little brisk walking, yoga, or stretching.
Brush your teeth. This psychological trick is quite effective. Some celebrities do this to keep them from eating anything right after a meal. Try it! After all who wants to eat after brushing their teeth?
